The subject of this illustrated talk by Barney Rolfe-Smith is Richard Payne Knight and the house and garden he built in 1772 at Downton. He considered it a successful experiment - Do we agree? During this talk, using many images from artists and photographs you will be able to judge for yourself. As well as a booklet on Bringewood Forge and the Downton Walks, Barney has produced the books Fishing in Time, the History of the Leintwardine Fishing Club, Colonel John Colvin and A Gilded Cage - Lucien Bonaparte. His latest book is Downton Gorge - Richard Payne Knight's Secret Garden.
