Through co-operation and consultation with the Local Authority and with providers of goods and services we encourage the implementation of the Disability Discrimination Act and help to bring about improvements in local access.

If this is your first visit to Ludlow, you may be wondering 'How easy is it for disabled people to get around in the town?' History and access do not always go together. The historic town of Ludlow, with its steep streets, narrow pavements, ancient buildings, cobbled pathways and planning restrictions, may, as far as access is concerned, appear to be a 'No-go area'. But do not despair!

In compiling 'Access in Ludlow' we have found that there are many buildings where access is easy, and where access is not so easy, there is great good will. Shopkeepers and owners of buildings are very willing to find ways to help, once they know what is required. We hope that this booklet will encourage improvements in access provision, and that it will help you to get around more easily.

So, welcome to Ludlow, and we hope you enjoy your visit.
